Research Into Similar Products: Indie Music Video Conventions
I would like to shoot my music video in the style of an indie rock video. By looking at the video for Cough Cough by Everything Everything, I have been able to identify key conventions of an indie rock video which I can then apply to my own.

Research Into Similar Products: Magazine Advert
By looking at magazine album adverts, I have noticed the simple conventions of a music advert. Most page ads contain a photo of the album art is included in the center of the advert and the colours surrounding the ad are linked with the album cover itself. The release date is featured and singles from the album are also included to create a familiarity with a possible audience. Websites are also included so that an audience can find a place to purchase the album but also find others in their catalogue. By picking out these conventions, I know what to include on my own advertisement so that it looks professional and realistic.

Research Into Similar Products: Album Cover Research
By looking at different album covers that are made by indie rock artists, I have noticed that they either feature dark colours or light, abstract images.

The albums below feature tracks that have emotional and

The songs featured on the albums above either have emotional and expressive tracks that match the dark cover or have tracks that sound heavy so the dark cover would match the heavy sound.
These albums have brightly coloured album colours to contrast the deep, meaningful lyrics that are included and the heavy riffs.
If I were to choose a meaningful track, I'd like to use a darker album cover to match the lyrics and the tone of the bands music.

Drafting and Planning: Possible Songs Choices for Music Video
I have decided to make a music video for my project because of my passion for music and my love for music videos themselves. I have started to look at different songs I like that I could use in my video and think of ideas. My song choices are:
- The Wytches - Crying Clown
- Bombay Bicycle Club - My God
- Smashing Pumpkins - Today
- Deftones - Be Quiet and Drive
- Bombay Bicycle Club - Leaving Blues
I have picked out these songs in particular as I could imagine a video for each of them.
For The Wytches, I was thinking of having the camera following a girl with a black and white filter with only the colour blue visible (like Sin City) to create an eerie and depressing atmosphere.
For the Bombay Bicycle Club track, I have had the idea of a couple having an argument and one of them running away. I would use colours such as green and yellow to show the free nature of the character running away.
My idea for the track Today, would be to have the camera follow a mans miserable day with the use of props such as balloons and pink ribbons to compliment the lyrics.
Be Quiet and Drive Far would incorporate the idea of running away in a black and white filter to fit in with the lyrics and to create a sad atmosphere about it.
Leaving Blues would follow a young girl travelling. The emphasis would be on the fact that she is running away and would focus on the grey and yellow colours in the video. It would end with her meeting a young male at the train station.
